How do they work?

Some questions might still be vague. For example;

How much do they amplify?

If you are asking this, then the concept isn’t clear. The transistor itself is not amplifying. It needs a small current to trigger the outer loop of the circuit. This outer loop can contain a far more significant power source than an Arduino can handle. So the transistor controls a more significant amount of current.

How is this different than a Relais?
